Maybe it’s an anniversary. Maybe it’s a birthday. Maybe it’s Valentine’s Day. Or maybe they just want to surprise the hell out of him.
And yes, a boudoir album makes an incredible gift.
But here’s something I’ve learned after photographing women for years: somewhere along the way, the session usually stops being about him.
It becomes about you.
I hear the same things all the time:
“I need to lose some weight first.”
“I’m not photogenic.”
“I don’t know how to pose.”
“I’m too old to do something like this.”
“My body isn’t what it used to be.”
Believe me, you are not the only woman who has ever walked into my studio feeling that way.
And you don’t need to know how to pose. That’s my job.
You don’t need to know what to do with your hands, where to look, how to stand or how to make yourself look sexy. I’ll guide you through the entire session. I’ll use the lighting, posing and camera angles that make you look your absolute best.
And no—you do not have to lose 10, 20 or 30 pounds before you call me.
Life has a funny way of making us put ourselves last. There’s always something else that needs our attention. Work. Kids. Family. Bills. The house. Everybody else.
Sometimes you look up and realize you haven’t done something just for yourself in a very long time.
That is one of the things I love about boudoir photography.
For a little while, it gets to be about you.
You get your hair and makeup done. You put on something that makes you feel beautiful. You laugh. You loosen up. And before long, the woman who told me at the beginning of the session, “I’m going to be terrible at this,” is standing in front of my camera looking absolutely amazing.
That’s the fun part.
But my favorite part is when she sees the photographs.
Sometimes there’s a little silence.
Then I hear:
“Is that REALLY me?”
Yep.
That’s you.
The beautiful woman was there the whole time.
So yes, book a boudoir session for your husband. Book one for your boyfriend. Put the photographs in a beautiful album, wrap it up and watch his jaw hit the floor.
But don’t be surprised if, when it’s all over, you realize the best gift wasn’t actually for him.
It was for you.
If you’ve been thinking about doing a boudoir session but keep finding a reason to wait, maybe this is your sign.
Come in exactly as you are.
I’ll take care of the rest.
